+ Privacy Statement

Core Human Factors will never attempt to sell you anything; we are interested only in your opinions. We will never sell or give your information to a third party and the only calls or emails you will receive from us will be to request or confirm your participation in a research study.

We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of all participants in our research studies and everyone who registers with us. Personal information is asked for statistical purposes only and study responses are viewed in aggregate with the responses of other participants. Access to respondent information is strictly limited to trained research professionals at Core Human Factors.

You can view our full privacy policy here.

+ Why should I participate in a research study?

Our research participants are often one of the first to see, touch and use (don’t worry, practice use only) the latest inventions and product innovations from many of the world’s largest medical device manufacturers before they come to market. Taking part in a study is a great way to contribute to your knowledge and opinions about new products and to help influence their development and assist the manufacturer in creating a safer and more effective product.

You’ll always be compensated for any study for which you qualify and complete.

+ Will I use the device on myself or on someone else? Will any drugs be administered?

Never. All device use is simulated and drugs will never be administered as part of any study.

+ How do I participate?

Just complete our registration form to be considered for any of our studies. Registration is free and the information is kept 100% secure and confidential – please see our privacy statement.

+ Do I have to be a certain age to register?

Core Human Factors accepts registrations for people 18 years of age and older. If you have kids over the age of 18, please ask them to register separately. If you have children under the age of 18 and would like them to be considered for studies, be sure to enter their birth dates and genders when you register. When we have studies for children, we call parents to ask for permission for the child to participate. Core Human Factors will never contact your child directly or allow them to participate in a study without the express written consent of a legal guardian.

+ When registering, do I have to answer all the questions?

No, there are only a few answers that are required. However, keep in mind that the more questions you answer the greater the likelihood that you’ll be contacted to participate in a study. For example, if we are currently working on a study with people who have used a type of medical device or own a smartphone, we will start by contacting people who have answered those questions.

+ I just registered, what happens next?

Thank you for registering with us! As soon as you submitted your registration, your information went into our secure database and you will be automatically considered for all our studies. When we begin working on a study that matches your information, we will call you to ask some questions to see if you meet the criteria of the study. If you do, we will confirm the date and time with you and email you a confirmation. If you don’t meet the criteria, don’t worry! You will still be considered for future studies.

+ After I register, do I need to contact Core Human Factors to receive research offers?

No. Core Human Factors will contact you based on the information you have provided to us that matches the basic criteria of our studies. Occasionally, we will send emails to alert you about certain studies.

We are always doing research, but not everyone qualifies for every study. Our current studies may be for people of a different age, gender, occupation, etc. We also track your past participation and will contact you when there are other studies for which you may qualify. Remember, we can only include you in our studies if we can reach you via phone and email. So, please let us know if your contact information has changed.

+ How do I update my phone number, e-mail or other information?

Visit our online registration form and complete the required (*) fields. You can then add just your updated information without completing the entire form. When you click submit at the end of the form, the new information you provide will automatically override the old information in our system.

+ What happens during a research study?

You could be asked to participate in any of the following types of studies:

In a One-on-One Interview, you are interviewed individually by a trained research professional at our facility. You may be observed by use of a two-way mirror and the session may be recorded for research purposes only.

In a Product Usage Study, you will typically come to our facility to pick up a product and use it at home for a specified period of time, then return to our facility to complete a one-on-one interview.

For In-Home Interviews, a client and one or more of our research professionals will visit you in your home to observe and discuss the usage of a product. Many of these sessions are recorded for research purposes only.

+ Will I be paid for my time?

Yes, all our studies compensate people for their time and opinions. You will receive a gift of appreciation after completing the study, usually in the form of a Visa Reward Card.

+ How much will I get paid?

The amount you receive depends on the the type of study in which you participate. A short, simple study could pay $25; a longer, more complex study could pay $125 or more.

+ How often can I participate?

It all depends on the study. In some cases, there could be no waiting period or a waiting period of three months, six months, or one year before you can participate in another study.

+ Where will I go when I participate?

The majority of our studies are run in our facility in Bala Cynwyd and in the greater Philadelphia area. However, we often run studies in other locations across the country! If you would still like to be considered for future studies after you’ve moved, please update your profile with your new home address, and we will contact you if we are conducting research in your area.

+ What happens if I change my mind about participating?

That’s okay! You are under no obligation to complete the study. When you arrive for your appointment, you will review an Informed Consent Form that will detail what you will be doing as part of your study session. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have before agreeing to participate.

+ How secure is my personal information with your company? Will my information be shared with a third party?
